Hand painted yarn - red white blue
<br />The base yarn for this is a skein of 80% wool, 20% nylon. It is commercially spun with an interesting zigzag effect. This one is not merino soft - but not scratchy either. It is a bouncy, springy wool - maybe mittens rather than neck wear. It is approx. dk weight (see photo against 1 inch measure for accurate gauge). I dip dyed this one several times at each end to achieve a strong colour. This wool takes the dye beautifully. The last picture shows the same skein before it was rewound.
