Handmade Earrings Orange Polymer Clay Discs by averilpam
Description
Handmade polymer clay earrings. The disc beads are made from polymer clay in shades of amber, orange and turquoise with a sunburst pattern. They are topped with Czech glass faceted rondelle beads and small brass bead caps. They are linked with antiqued brass wire and hang approx 1.5inches/38mm from antiqued brass lever back ear wires.
I have made the disc beads using a technique called 'mokume gane'. This involves layering sheets of polymer clay - in this case 2 shades of aqua/turquoise and 2 shades of orange/brown. Then a texture is impressed into the clay and gradually the raised texture is shaved away using a sharp blade. The colours underneath then reveal the pattern from the texture. No two sheets of polymer clay made this way will be quite the same resulting in unique pieces.
These discs show mostly the amber/orange colours with very little turquoise. The backs are a marbled mix of all the colours.
