Karuta is the most popular among the many kinds of card games in Japan. It is played mostly on New Years Day, but there are also national conventions for playing karuta. Each card has a poem, or portion thereof, written on it with a total of 100 poems in the game. On this card you can see Japanese woman named Oobako (date of birth and death unknown) was a Japanese woman in Jodai, 6 Century (mainly the Nara era - 592~). His husband was Tsukino Ikina who was the head of samurai warriors fought against Korea and lost. They were taken in Korea after losing the war. The kanji characters on the card says Waving shawl higher,
