Product Description:
Lampwork glass beads for jewellery making, handmade in the flame.This is a set of 5 beads, set on a transparent base with layers of swirling variated pink ribbons.
Each bead is individually crafted by melting glass in a very hot flame, and I use a mixture of heat, gravity and tools to shape. As I work in soft glass, the beads need to be kept hot all the time to stop them “thermal shocking” and cracking! Once I am happy with them I place them into a warm, digitally controlled kiln. The kiln controls the cooling temperature of the glass and it is here that they are annealed – this process relieves any stress that would be inside the glass and helps to make them stronger and less likely to break (beads that have not been annealed make look fine to the naked eye, but can easily shatter at any time especially if knocked). I send out my beads cleaned and ready to use.
