Product Description:

Yes, this necklace is made of genuine coprolite, from a dinosaur, no less! Coprolite is the scientific word for fossilized animal dung. Who would have thought it would be so beautiful?

This stone is agatized dinosaur dung, where the original organic material is replaced with agate stone over time. In this case, we don't know the species of dinosaur, but the deposits are millions of years old.

This piece of coprolite has a combination of orange, red, black, taupe & yellow, with a few flecks of white. The fossil is just over 3 cm (almost 1 1/4 inches) long, & is one of the largest pieces I have. I've wrapped the stone with sterling silver wire & placed it on a 40 cm (16 inch) sterling silver chain that ends in a lobster clasp.
