The flower-shaped pendant is a hand-carved Paua Shell. Paua shells (pronounced "pah-wah") are the most beautiful shells in the world. They are found in the deep waters off of the South Island of New Zealand near the Antarctic. This deep, cold water produces a hard shell with rich deep beautiful color. Colors vary as the shell is viewed at different angles, ranging from vibrant blues, to greens to purples, with an iridescent shine.

The black silk and cotton round cord is 28 inches long. The lobster claw catch is brass. The "Knot" is made of 11 intertwined copper rings. The pendant is 1 1/4 inches in diameter.
