Product Description:

The amazing pattern of this fossil is revealed in this cut and polished piece. Some of the chambers are open and show the glitter of tiny crystals grown within. This fossil is held in sterling silver wire and has a large bail for your chain to slip into and to keep it always facing forward.
This is a fossil of a creature that lived in the seas millions of years ago. This is its shell, cut and polished. The name 'ammonite' comes from ancient Egyptian mythology, from the oracle-god Amun who had the form of a ram. The ammonite resembled the horns on either side of Ammon's head. The last of the ammonites disappeared along with the dinosaurs about 65 million years ago. All we have left of them are some beautiful fossils to mark their passing.
