Product Description:

‘The First Snow’ Illustrative Penguin Print- This illustration was a piece I did for a magazine called ‘The Thing Is…’ I was given a short story entitled ‘The First Snow of Winter’ about a disillusioned man who is transported back to the innocence of his youth by the first snowfall of winter. He wakes to find a small penguin in his back garden, and together they build snowmen, and an igloo, complete with a flag fashioned from a pair of frozen y-fronts from the washing line.

I’ve always had a love of toys and dolls, and I adore stop-motion animation, so it’s unsurprising that my style of illustration would reflect this. My illustrations are made by crafting mixed-media three-dimensional environments, and characters, which I then light with atmospheric lighting and photograph to produce a two dimensional image.
