Pink herringbone scarf silk noil hand knit
<br />This one is really eye-catching! Maybe a flash of vibrant colour against a classic coat...

<br />I knitted this scarf by hand in a close herringbone stitch combining two different yarns. The main yarn is a pure silk noil which is handpainted (though not by me this time) in brilliant shades of pink fuchsia, lilac and purple. The binder yarn (so that the silk will keep its shape)is a 50% Merino wool and 50% acrylic mix. It is darker - cherry and Burgundy red - and really makes the silk colours sing. Both these yarns look dramatically better in combination than on their own.
<br />This stitch uses a lot of yarn and produces a dense fabric, so the scarf is light, very warm and definitely next-to-the-skin soft.
<br />The scarf is long: 82 inches and approx. 4.5 inches wide - so it can be generously wrapped.
