Week-end Marriage by Faith Baldwin

Faith Baldwin was famous for writing novels which focused on the tug of war between work and family life. Week-End Marriage is about the "scandal" of a woman who decides to continue working outside the home after her wedding day. First published in 1931, and made into a film starring Loretta Young in 1932, Baldwin's novel takes the stance of the time, that women should stay at home once they are married.

Lola Hayes enjoys her job and is making as much money as her husband. When his situation is altered, her income becomes even more important. His pride, however, is injured, and everyone she encounters tells her she is "selfish" for wanting a 50-50 partnership in her home.
