How cute is this little guy?
<br />He stands about 12cms tall, from his painted wooden base to the tip of his hand embroidered felt hat.
<br />Tomte are my crafting passion when it comes to Christmas time.
<br />A Tomte (or Nisse) is a mythical creature of Scandinavian
<br />folklore. Tomtar were believed to take care of a farmer's home
<br />and children and protect them from misfortune. In the late 1800s they became the bearers of Christmas (Jul) presents and the little creature you see now is known as a Jultomte in Sweden.
<br />I have created a whole Tomte family - Small 'Baby' Tomte that can hang on the tree, these Medium 'Child' Tomte, Large 'Momma & Poppa' Tomte and they are all available in my Etsy shop.
