Single flower vase that has been covered in an eggshell mosaic, coloured with ink and treated with a special super strong finish. It is 20 cm high and 8 x 8 cm at its widest point.
The vase was picked up at a charity shop and the eggshells are recycled from breakfast. This was the first one I tried and it's coloured with glass paints and finished with a gloss coat which also makes it stronger. I was inspired to try it after I saw this technique on a visit to the States and was looking for a mosaic medium other than tiles to try.
As you can imagine, putting on the mosaic eggshell is a long slow process but looks great when finished and painted - definitely a worthwhile process.
There are various ways of colouring the shells and I'm still trying them all out, this one turned out pretty effective I think.
